His death certificate was witnessed by "R.B Horton widow of the deceased" He died at5, Oxford Place, Manchester.(where he died in 1959) I been given his dates at that address in 1942,1944,1945 and 1947, thanks to the Manchester Group No trace of the wedding certificate, or children - my half-cousins Regards, Graeme -----Original Message----- From: cheshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:cheshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Geoff Mellor Sent: 02 May 2008 17:27 To: cheshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [CHS] Tracing Fathers of Illegitimate Children Hello list, I have recently obtained a marriage certificate, thanks to Elaine for advice, for my gggrandparents, William Mellor and Ann Staton (named as Stayton on the cert) which names her father as Noa Davenport. Ann Staton was born in Congleton in 1830 and christened by her mother Sophia Staton as illegitimate. I have followed up on this and there does appear to have been a Noah Davenport born in Astbury in 1807 which would put him in the right place and age to have possibly been her father. Two questions Is there another way that I can pursue this aside from the Parish records ? Is anyone else researching the Davenports of Congleton who may have other info which could help me ?
