Hi Jean, I'm very sorry to hear of your mother's death.I hope the following will help with the eulogy you are writing : In the 1929 Manchester directory there is a DUCIE AVENUE council school which is both elementary and senior.The listing under COUNCIL SCHOOLS is : Ducie ave,senior mixed,T.Murrel,master.Miss C.J.Walker,infants mistress The location of Ducie Ave is at 62 Ducie grove,Oxford rd,Chorlton on Medlock. This seems,from Google maps,to be where part of the university is now. Two council schools I found for Ardwick are : Ardwick central,Devonshire st Chester st, There are numerous others listed for the surrounding areas so if you want any more please get back to me, Cheers Kath

Hi Kath Thank you , I really do think it is Ducie Ave, because Ducie Street, keeps on popping into my mind. When my sister gets home from work I will ring once I say the school I think she will remember.
