    3. Hi Helen, I checked the unfilmed 1851 census on www.familyhistoryonline.net For 40 pence (around $1 AUD) I got 4 hits for Elizabeth Radcliffe. I didn't have enough credit to check the actual returns in full (1 pound each - about $2.50 AUD) but the excerpts I saw follow: First 3 are Radcliffe: One was 66 lodging house keeper living in Pendleton (clearly not yours). One was a 22 year old unmarried servant (general servant) living at 13 Melbourne St Chorlton Manchester, born at Lymm Cheshire. The third was closer to the age of your Elizabeth. 30 Robert St Ardwick Manchester Un 16 year old living with parent (no occupation noted ) born Manchester Lancahire . The closest I could find though was an Elizabeth RATCLIFFE aged 7 living at 8 Black Queen St Deansgate Manchester, born Blackburn Lancashire, relationship to head of household was niece. Again to view the actual entry (from familyhistoryonline) is 1 pound (around $2.50 AUD) (put in Ratcliffe Elizabeth only looking at Census, and the years 1851) Hope this is of some help Regards Lesley Melbourne, Australia

    3. Thank you Lesley. I accessed the image then found a chr on the IGI, then marriage, then 1861c. The family are still all together. No reason for her to be in an orphanage. I was told she was raised in an orphanage. Does anyone know if there are any orphanages on the 1851c ? Thanks again.
