Elsie, Do you have any HOLDENs from Burslem, Yorkshire, or Canada? My great-grandfather, Arthur HOLDEN, came to Vancouver, B.C with his brother Norman, from the Stoke on Trent area between 1900 and 1910. The family had lived in Burslem for a couple of generations. His great grandfather John Irvin HOLDEN, I believe, was originally from West Riding, Yorkshire. On July 21, 1813, John Irvin HOLDEN, a banker's clerk of Burslem, married Mary GREGORY, of West Riding in Halifax St. John's, West Riding, Yorkshire. The bride's home is listed as Halifax. Any connection? Roe, that he was a relative of ours. I assume he might be something to do with the Roes of Eccles. My grandmother Tamara Roe was the wife of my grandfather Holding (Holden). Eccles might be a good place to look. Best wishes Elsie Hemming (nee Holden)
Sorry Kathryn, My Holden side came from Eccles, Lancs. Best wishes for your success.
