On the 1865 marriage certificate for an ancestor his place of abode is given as Church Street, Hyde Road. Was this in Ardwick? I know that there was a St. Matthews Church built near Hyde Road in Ardwick around this time, but was there a Church Street here, or was it somewhere else??? Thanks Rob
Hi Rob, I lived in Ardwick many moons ago and attended St Matthews Church on Hyde Rd. I do not recall a Church St around there. That isn't to say there wasn't one in the 1860's! I have a section of map that someone kindly sent me, I'll send it off list.
