Hi folks, Earlier today I said I would ask at my local library (which has a local/family history section) about the Times Archive free trial, the question being will they subscribe to it when the free trial has ended. I am speaking about this one: http://archive.timesonline.co.uk described here: http://irishfamilyhistory.ie/blog/?p=153 I went and asked. Here's what I was told - it depends whether the local authority decides to pay for it when the time comes. Therefore it seems it will be down to your own local authority whether you will be able to access it for free once the public free trial is over. The assistant added that the more people ask about it, the more likely the local authority is to pay up - so go and ask! So that's all I know. Here's a tip - if you are registered with a higher education institution and you have an Athens password, you will be able to access many such resources from home from your own computer, which is a great help.
