    3. Hi Jackie, I am afraid I have no answer for you. Maybe you will have to be very patient and hope the 1911 Census will help out. Do you know when he died? If so, a death certificate will tell you his age and where he died. Also, you may be able to narrow things down on this site - but you have to get credits for full information. Searches are free http://www.192.com/search/ If you think he got married in England, then how about searching for a marriage - the marriage cert. will give an address and other info. Sorry if you've already done all this - don't intend to "teach granny to suck eggs".......if you get my meaning! My father arrived in Manchester sometime after 1938 after leaving Raphoe Ireland with the McElhinney family. I have the McElhinney family and my father living at 15 Shakespeare St (Chorlton on Medlock/Chorlton Cum Hardy) 1946 but as there were not any elections during the War I cannot find the date that they first started living in Shakespeare St. Does anyone have any idea where I could look to find the dates the family moved into Shakespeare St? I've never been able to obtain a birth cert for my father (I have no idea where or the country he was born) If I could find the dates it might help me get the information to gather his War records. Does anyone have any idea which barracks my father would have been stationed in if the family lived in Shakespeare St at the start of the War? I have attempted to get Dad's War records but as I no idea where he was born the Army Records Office say that I at least need his address at the time he joined up. The McElhinney family do have a researcher but he has no mention of my father in his research, even though my father grew up with the family in Ireland. Research is made very difficult because my parents seperated for a couple of years in 1960, my father stayed in Shakespeare St and we moved to another part of Manchester. In 1961 my father moved out of the house taking with him only one small suitcase, everything else he left in the house including all documents. Shortly afterwards that area of Manchester was flatten to make way for the new estate. Many thanks for any help/direction. Regards Jackie
