    3. Does anyone know if there was a Market Street in Hulme around 1839? I have an ancestor dying at Market Street in 1839; his previous known address in 1822 was York Street, Hulme. Thanks Rob

    3. Hulme was not a Market suburb. I think the closest match is Market street that runs fron the west into Piccadilly. On the other hand at the east end of Market street it became Piccadilly. Which is todays Piccadilly Gardens. In them days the whole of the garden area consisted of the Manchester Infirmery and an asylym. Perhaps he might have died in the hospital section? Walk down York street to City road then north east on City road and you will finish up at the Infirmary. Its less than 1/2 hour walk.
