Hi everybody, Pat very kindly pointed me in the direction of the local Studies Library at Manchester to find the baptisms I'm after for my Horrocks family. The library will do one look up for you if you have the exact date, church, name etc. which is brilliant of them as I understand their resources must be stretched. I'm not sure they would like me writing several letters all asking for a different baptism? As I have 7 baptisms with exact dates etc. & 2 burials all at the same church I thought it might be worthwhile enlisting the help of researcher who could look these up for me. I have no idea where to start looking for such a person or what it would cost. My funds are limited so could anyone recommend such a person please. Thank you for reading this message, any help is really appreciated, best wishes Vanda >----Original Message---- >From: pat.williams121@virgin.net >Date: 07/07/2008 23:45 >To: <eng-manchester@rootsweb.com> >Subj: Re: [ENG-MAN] Horrocks > > >Hi Vanda, >I am not aware of anything on-line, but Manchester Central Library sometimes >offers a look-up service. Hi again Vanda, The link will take you to a web site of researchers. I've looked at their cost, and they insist on a minumum of 2 hours worth. Even though you know exactly what you want, I think it would take over an hour anyway....including the photocopying. It really is time consuming looking at the microfilms and sometimes, not everything is in the chronological order you would expect. The photocopying of film isn't as straight forward as normal photocopies either. http://www.mancestry.co.uk/ I don't know anyone who has used this facility.......but with a bit of luck, SKS may do a look up for free. I would gladly do it for you, but I don't expect to get back there for possibly months. I used a researcher I found on the web to get my Grandfathers war records from the National Archives and it was worth every penny to me. However, that's a bit different to collecting Baptism entries which don't give much useful information (most of the time) I think they may not be able to help with the Buriels though. Anyhow, fingers crossed, Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: andrew-vanda@tiscali.co.uk To: eng-manchester@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2008 2:55 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-MAN] Horrocks Hi everybody, Pat very kindly pointed me in the direction of the local Studies Library at Manchester to find the baptisms I'm after for my Horrocks family.
