Hi Shirley and Barb, I lived in Ardwick from about 1949 until 1965 (from ages 2yrs to 18yrs.) What sort of info are you looking for? I need to look up cemetaries, as I have aunts and uncles buried there from the 1890's, but I'm going to have to get back into my genealogy to give you particulars...Would you know about cemetaries? Hi Shirley, I'm no expert, but I know that many who died in the Ardwick area, were laid to rest at Gorton Cemetery. This is still open. There was also a cemetery in Ardwick which is now closed and at St Thomas - links below http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Ardwick/ArdwickCemetery.shtml http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Ardwick/StThomas.shtml http://www.manchester.gov.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=1064 If you cross reference the dates you are searching with the dates of closure of 2 of the above, you will hopefully find the most likely cemeteries. Not all records are yet on-line though, but Blackley Cemetery has the records for Gorton. (Ardwick Cemetery's records are at Manchester Central Library - not sure about St Thomas' but you may find the answer on the Genuki site) Good luck, Pat W ----- Original Message ----- From: Shirley Carter To: eng-manchester@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, July 07, 2008 10:41 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-MAN] ARDWICK MANCHESTER I need to look up cemetaries, as I have aunts and uncles buried there from the 1890's, but I'm going to have to get back into my genealogy to give you particulars...Would you know about cemetaries?
