Another question please. I have searched the indexes for the 1861 census a 1000 times (or it seems like it) for William, Jane, George, Sarah & Maria HORROCKS and can't find them anywhere. I have decided to do it the old fashioned way by just look through the census returns one at a time. Needle in a haystack I know. I'm concentrating on Ashton-under-Lyne at the moment. When I've looked at the enumeration districts for Ashton Town they are in numerical order, District 1, District 2 etc. When I look at the enumeration districts for Audenshaw they have letters following them: District 2f View description of enumeration district District 3f View description of enumeration district District 4f View description of enumeration district District 6d View description of enumeration district District 7d View description of enumeration district Is there a reason for this please?
