I didn't think that either the ONS or Manchester Register Office took specifications any more. Manchester withdrew that option with effect from June 1st Good Luck Antony Lambert -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Irene Marlborough Sent: 13 August 2011 09:09 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ENG-MAN] Manchester Baptisms- Mitton Hi Jo-Ann: There's still a lot of the Manchester area records not yet transcribed. So your baptisms could be missing from LAN-OPC and the IGI etc. I assume that you have checked the FreeBMD births Elizabeth Ellen Mitton in the June Q of 1869 in Manchester and also Sarah Elizabeth A Mitton in the Mar Q of 1869 in Chorlton. You'll need to apply for the cert specifying the father's name and occupation. If this is too expensive then you'll have to wait until someone puts the baptisms online. You could speed up this process by volunteering to transcribe for LAN-OPC. See their website for how to do this. Good luck! I didn't know that. Previously Manchester RO has been extremely helpful. They would even identify the correct cert over the phone before issuing. I've had great service from them in the past. I blame the government spending cuts! Regards, Irene
