Hi Mary, Not sure where you live but does your local library have acess to Newspapers online - check it out as the 19th Century British Library Newspapers [Gale] it is great. I was able to look up the following paper. The Manchester Examiner Tuesday Oct 19 1847 page 6 under the heading Borough Sessions. There isn't a description of the court proceedings. Only a list of the jury and what type of crimes and how often they occured. The computer says the paper is the The Manchester Times and Gazette Do you hve the information from Ancestry - do you know where they went to jail. Unfortunately no info for you but theremay be other papers with more info. Do the court papers still exist or not.
