Hi Debbie Have you considered the possibility that there were possibly two children called William and Emily, the first born dying young and that they might be the ones appearing or not appearing in the 1881 census? It is quite common to reuse names. If Edward was born 1832 here will not be a birth certificate for him as this is before civil registration. You would need to find parish records for a baptism which may or may not give you DOB. If he was born 1839 then he may not have been registered as that was early days when many were not. Just a couple of thoughts Regards Lyn In Oz. > ~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~ > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word > 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body > of the message
Hi Lyn, Thanks for your help. I am working through my mother's bits and pieces and I believe there could have been another William born earlier and past away, but I don't know how or when. At this stage I can't find any more information to indicate that there could have been another Emily. I will keep looking and maybe I will come across a piece of paper or something else which may give me more of an insight. Thanks again for your help - I really appreciate it.
