Hi Debby, I think I may have Alexander on Scottish census---- Edinburgh 1841 with brothers Sutherland 9y, Robert 7y living with possible grandfather--Sutherland Munro and, 1851 Edinburgh attending college,the IGI has baptisms for the 3 boys at Edinburgh Parish Church, Sutherland 17 Feb 1832, Alex. 30 April 1834,Robert 22 June 1836 with parents names, also parents marriage,mothers baptism and grandparents marriage.
