Hi Judy On the 1881 Emily Monks and son John are living in the house of Samuel and Elizabeth Hibbert in Openshaw, they are listed as boarders. On the 1861 Emily aged 7 Months is listed as the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Hibbert living at Ashton Rd Openshaw also listed as family are Ellis Hibbert aged 6 Charles Hibbert aged 4 Mary Ellen aged 2. >From the naming patterns of the children born in Australia I would think this was actually Emily's family On the 1861 living at 5 Leigh St Openshaw there is a probable match for the Monks family. All named Monks John aged 43 brick maker born Wigan Elizabeth aged 38 born Manchester Thomas Henry aged 17 born Manchester William aged 14 born Manchester Sarah Ann aged 13 born Manchester John aged 9 born Openshaw James aged 5 born Openshaw Elizabeth Jane aged 2 born Openshaw On the 1871 the family are mistranscribed as Monts on Ancestry, Elizabeth is now a widow but the family are all still together but now living at 57 Charlotte, Gorton Hope this helps Gilly ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judith Dumbrell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2011 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-MAN] MONKS, HIBBERT > Hello there, > > I am researching James MONKS, born about 1856 in Lancashire.
