Hi Jane.....your connecton to the surname ROSCOE/W caught my eye. I have an ADA ANNIE ROSCOW/E b. 1865 Chorlton who married into my STUART line vis. CHARLES STUART b. 1866 Manchester. They lived at 33 Bishop St., Moss Side in 1891 and 1901. Charles was a foreign correspondent. They had two children, HELEN K. b. 1894 and DONALD b. 1900 (who "may" have married a ADA COLLINS). Charles died in 1922 and Ada "may" have remarried an ALBERT NEWTON in 1924. I'm wondering if you have Ada Annie in your Roscow/e line and if you can tell me of her parents. Thanks.....mary lou -----Original Message----- From: Jane <[email protected]> To: ENG-MANCHESTER-L <[email protected]> Sent: Tue, Jul 19, 2011 12:57 pm Subject: [ENG-MAN] Lost family! ROSCOE/W Hi All My 2x gr-aunt, Ann Johnston b1850 married Hilton Roscoe b1848 (occupation colour mixer) in 1868 at St Phillips, Ancoats and had the following children (all baptised at St Phillips): Mary Elizabeth b 1870 James b 1872 Edwin b 1874 I have Ann and Hilton with daughter Mary Elizabeth in 1871 on Templar St, Hiltons occupation is borer. I've found Hilton in 1881 (spelt Roscow) boarding with the bridgman family at 48 Lloyd St, Ancoats, he's claiming to be unmarried. By 1882 he's remarried a Susannah Sutherland. I can find no sign of Ann and the children, I've been searching for most of the day, and I think now I need new eyes! I can find no deaths, marriages, or any sign on passenger lists or census returns, it's as though they've just vanished! Help and opinions please. Hi Mary Lou I'm afraid I can't tie in with anything yet, at least not until I can find some sign of the lost family.
