    1. [ENG-MAN] ASHTON
    2. Hi Norm Peter ASHTON is in the 1871 Census living in Hill Side, Halton near Runcorn in Cheshire. He is listed as a 17 year old Boarder living with Elizabeth Watkin, Head, Widow, Blacksmith [yes!], along with several other boarders, blacksmiths, wheelwright, etc. Peter's occupation is given as Blacksmith and born in Bolton. I can't find him in the 1861. William GRATRIX in 1871 was living in Carlisle St, Newtown in the parish of Worsley, born in Swinton, occ. Smith age 41. His wife is Mary Ann 39, and he has 7 children, Margaret 20, Harriet 19, Annie 12, Alice 10, Eliza Ann 6, William Edwin 2 and Frank 9mo. Again not found in 1861. Hope this helps. Ruth
