123 Crescent Road was the address of the North Manchester Workhouse. When workhouses were abolished (think 1930s) it changed its name to the Crumpsall Institute, treating the mentally ill. In 1939 it was renamed Park House eventually became Springfield Hospital in 1948. He died of chronic bronchitis. Is this 123 Crescent Road likely to be what had been the Workhouse or was there another in the area? If it is the old workhouse does anyone know what function the place had by 1939? Thanks in advance.
