    3. I know that HALLOW(E)S AND HOLLIS are the same in Derbyshire. Parts of the dialect seem very similar to the flat Lancashire accent (no offense intended!).I live in Stockport, Cheshire so am stuck in the middle of both. If you try saying hallows quick it sort of comes out like hollis. Before I learnt this I would pronounced Hallows like hallowed ground but now try to remember the other way to do my research. I'm interested in this because I have a lot of Hallowes of Derbyshire in my family.
