    3. Could someone check the trade manuals to see if there are two Glass Blowers, named Edward Dickins/Dickens, born abt 1850 in Manchester. He married my Mary Riding, born abt 1860 in Salford. The 1891 Census and the 1901 Census don't seem to be quite the same family. 1850 Census, Manchester, Ancoats, Dist 1h, 3 Robinson Court Dickins, William mar, 28/24, glass blower, born Manchester? Are there two Edward Dickins/Dickens that manufacture glass or are glass blowers born in Manchester?

    3. Hi Diane: I can't answer your question but perhaps can shed some light. In 1911, the family from 1901 is at Chester Road, Stretford. Edward has apparently died but luckily his widow Mary has filled in the marriage information in error. She states that she was married for 30 years and that there are 3 children still living and 4 that have died. She did not give the total number of children born alive. This would mean that for the 1901 family, that particular Mary is not a second wife. Also 30 years matches the marriage date of 1881 for Edward Dickens and Mary Riding. The question remains - where are Edith and Catherine in 1891? It's possible they were with grandparents or other relatives and the surname got mangled. Keep looking! Best wishes, Irene
