    3. Dear Listers, I recently got marriage certificates for 2 couples thinking that after that their parents could be traced back on the censuses. I seem to have gone in circles all morning and got nowhere. The first couple were Charles Edward Clarke and Emily Hubbard who married 19 Sept. 1903 in Withington, Chorlton. Charles' father was given as Harry Clarke, decorator master, deceased. One of the witnesses was Harry Everett Clarke, who I assumed, perhaps wrongly, was Charles's brother. Charles was born circ 1877 in Hulme and I found a birth for a Harry Everett Clarke in 1874. My searching has not found a family with both Harry and Charles in it, nor with a father called Harry. The second couple were Ada MacCormac and William Edward Winterbottom, born c,. 1884 and married in 1907 in Salford. Ada's father was given as Joseph MacCormac, labourer. I've tried a variety of spellings but can't find Joseph. I know Ada was already living independently in 1901. I've got to the stage of not seeing the wood for the trees. Can anyone help please? Best wishes, Mary
