    1. [ENG-MAN] Dionysius NEWTON and John NEWTON
    2. Christine Benson
    3. Hi All, In 1872 Dionysius NEWTON married "my" Fanny HALE. According to the censuses he was born in 1850 in Manchester (1881 and 1891), Openshaw (1871) and Trafford (1901). FreeBMD has him born Chorlton Jan-Mar 1850. In 1871 he is a lodger in Tonge and there is also John NEWTON, a lodger. In spite of having such a good name to work with I cannot find him in 1851 and 1861 so cannot find his parents. (Yes, I know I could get his birth cert. but he is a very distant relation so would prefer not to if possible.) In 1878 "my" Annie Martha HALE (sister of Fanny, above) married John NEWTON. He was born 1852, Manchester(1881, 1891, 1901). If he is the same John NEWTON mentioned above living in Tonge he was born Old Trafford (1871). I suspect John is the brother of Dionysius. There is a probable birth for him Manchester Oct-Dec 1852 but there are other possibilities. Can anyone find them in earlier censuses? Can anyone prove/disprove the relationship? Any other ideas? Any descendants out there? Any help greatly appreciated. Christine

    3. If you suspect that his brother John married Annie, in addition to Dionysius marrying Fannie, I would invest in the cert and find out more about the family. Just sayin' :-) On Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 9:14 AM, Christine Benson <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi All, > > In 1872 Dionysius NEWTON married "my" Fanny HALE. 3. Hi Christine,Have you tried looking for Dennis Newton rather than Dionysius ?I would look for you but I do not have access to the census at the moment. I suggest this as I had the same problem with one of my ancestors Dionysious Law and I found him on some records as DennisGood huntingKath --- On Thu, 16/6/11, Christine Benson <[email protected]> wrote: From: Christine Benson <[email protected]> Subject: [ENG-MAN] Dionysius NEWTON and John NEWTON To: "Manchester Mailing List" <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, 16 June, 2011, 17:14 Hi All, In 1872 Dionysius NEWTON married "my" Fanny HALE. 3. Well done Maureen, it's a bit unreadable isn't it. Now I know the parents and siblings I'll have another go at 1861.
