    1. [ENG-MAN] MITTON & IVISON Families in the Manchester Area
    2. Jo-Ann Bradley
    3. Greeings, I live in California, U.S. Much of my family (including me) was born in or very near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, going back generations. However, my great grandmother on my mother's side, Charlotte Ivison Mitton, came to Philadelphia on 6 Dec 1887 on the SS Lord Gough at age 14 yrs. Her mother, Sarah Ann, was with her. I'm not sure whether her father, James Mitton, accompanied them. If so, his surname was spelled incorrectly. ( On 19 July 1887, there was a passenger on a ship arriving in Philadelphia named James Milton or Mitton.) Tragically, James died 16 Dec 1887. -James Mitton was born 1842/43 in Casleton, Lancashire according to the 1881 census & was a mechanic or fitter. -Sarah Ann (nee Ivison) was born about a year later in Manchester. I believe her father's name is John Ivison. Their children in the 1881 census: -Mary Jane b, ca. 1864 -George Alfred b. 20 Sept 1865 Baptism 23 Sep 1866 St Thomas Church, Ardwick -Elizabeth C. b. ca. 18669 -Charlotte Ivison b. 29 May 1873 Baptism 7 Aug 1873 St James Church, Collyhurst I believe they had other children who died very young. Does anyone know this family? Jo-Ann
