    2. Jonathan Ball
    3. Hi all I am currently trying to find Lavina Birch b. 1888 in Chorlton. She is on the 1901 census but I can't find her anywhere on the 1891 census. THe reason I am looking for her in 1891 is that the 1901 census does not state her mothers name and subsequently I have no way of tracing her parents marriage details. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Jonathan. _________________________________________________________________ http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/msnnkmgl0010000007ukm/direct/01/

    3. Thanks to Patricia for encouragement and to Sue for 1871 data. Unfortunately another dead end - TAYLOR doesn't fit my family tree at all. No point in looking at 1881 as I know my g-mother etc. were then in Salford. For those who may be interested, my g-mother (at age 28 mths) was "acquired" by the Heywoods after her mother died in Malta in 1871. How she got from Malta to Salford is a mystery. 3. Hello , I'm new to this list and hoping someone can help me please.I'm researching William Broadley b abt 1835 married Mary Ann Wright b abt 1842 I believe in Manchester. They married in 1860 at the Cathedral,Manchester . They had issue William b 1867,Samuel 1873 and Frederick 1880. There seems to be large gaps between these children, so I'm assuming there may have been other issue. A possibilty is a Joseph and a George. I believe Samuel married Amy Alice Robinson and William married Mary Ellen Whalen. Is there any body that knows anything about this family I would be very grateful to hear from them . many Thanks Cheri Greenlaw West Aust

    3. Hi Sandra, I started to check for Gervase WRENCH which proved to be a bit tricky, but I think I may have found a link for the wife of James WRENCH (Mary BEVINGTON) - You mentioned that James was listed as a baker etc on various census. I think the clue is in the 1861 UK Census (Ancestry.com Source Citation: Class: RG9; Piece: 1934; Folio: 86; Page: 14; GSU roll: 542890) I noticed the name of BEBBINGTON and then did a google search for BEVINGTON and the following came up in the archives of RootsWeb - http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BEVINGTON/2006-01/1137011363. (Are you the Sandra in this archived email ??) 1861 UK Census details Name: John Beck (head of household) Occupation: potter Age: 49 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1812 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Hannah Gender: Male Where born: Hanley, Staffordshire, England Civil Parish: Shelton Ecclesiastical parish: Shelton Town: Hanley County/Island: Staffordshire Registration district: Stoke Upon Trent Sub registration district: Shelton Household Members: Name Age John Beck, (Head) 49, Potter Hannah Beck, (wife) 48, (? ms Bebbington / Bevington) Josiah Bebbington, (brother in law) 50, Occupation: Potter (Bebbington / Bevington) James Wrench, (brother in law) 55, Occupation: Baker Mary Wrench, (sister in law), 55 (sister of Josiah and Hannah) I also found further information on the following web site regarding the BEVINGTONS and other potters http://www.thepotteries.org/allpotters/indexb.htm I hope this is helpful and not a 'red herring'. Kind regards, Diane Sydney NSW Australia -----Original Message----- Subject: [ENG-MAN] Gervase and James Wrench My question is does anyone know if he was of the same family as James Wrench of Manchester. I have been researching the Bevington groups off and on for many years but have come to a halt regarding the same people as mentioned in the rootsweb archiver. The Ann refered to was the mother of James Wrenches wife. My interest is who was the father. Some of the registers in Stoke were destroyed in the Chartist riots and there are no other records to cover this period. So as you see 'clutching at straws'....................
