Dear Gisela Thank you so much for replying to my message. I think you are right and my Dentiths and yours are connected in some way. The thing I did pick up on was that your John Dentith was an Iron Dresser (Manuf). Firstly may I ask if the (Manuf) meant he was actually a manufacturer of iron or was he a worker? All my Dentiths from the 1800's were nail makers, iron workers, or general iron smiths. There was a large iron foundry in the 1800's in Salford called The Salford Iron Works and I have established from addresses I have for the family that they probably worked there as they all lived within easy walking distance of the foundry. It seems to me, a great coincidence, that your John Dentith was something to do with iron. I intend to subscribe to "Ancestry" in the near future and if I come across your people I will contact you. Hi List, l neglected to mention that it is Thomas Pendlebury who was an Ostler at one stage and who resided in Smithy Lane.Looking at Mikes' map he had kindly sent me it is near a Hotel called the Star...l am wondering if the stables were associated with this hotel,there is also Coach works nearby.Bk bridge street which is also right there going by mikes' map is where Thomas Pendleburys' son,William,had his butcher shop later. Thomas appears to die between 1832-1836 but l have not yet located his death ,shame it's too early for anything but a cemetery record and we have not located that yet. Elizabeth is there until after 1861,she is independant.l have not been lucky enough to find her death neither.Looks like l have some work to do,any ideas?Thanking you,Pauline.

Hi List, l recently located a newspaper article which interested me greatly.It concerns the selling of Eleven high bred Coach Horses which had just ceased working the BeeHive Coach. They were owned by a Mr Hadley.The Sale was 28/01/1836. As our Thomas and Elizabeth lived in Smithy Lane prior to his death and he was,amongst other things,an Ostler, then l wonder if there was any connection between Star stables and Thomas.For those who are unsure of where Smithy Lane is,Mike Morris kindly told me me many years ago that it runs North off Bk Bridge street,which is off Bridge street.Does anyone know anything re Star Stables? Hi all I'm looking for William Southern born around 1816 in Bolton and residing in Salford. His wife is called Sarah. She was born in Radcliffe around 1817.
