    3. Hi I know 449 Rochdale Road was Oldham Workhouse, now Oldham Royal Infirmary. Working you way down Rochdale Road, 172 would have been fairly close to town, it may have been Crumpsall Hospital - but not sure. 3. Hi Vanda, Thank you for taking the time to try. If it is off help to anyone, the name off the person on the death cert. is Frank MOLLOY. I am assuming that his father is Martin Molloy and his mother was Catherine ARMSTRONG. Catherine seems to disappear from the family home in 1881 and by 1891 Martin is living with a Sarah as wife but does not marry her until 1893, by then he has had 2 children with Sarah, and he dies a few months after the marriage. 2. Irene Marlborough
    3. Gisela: Have you tried using the Historical Directories site at http://www.historicaldirectories.org? There are name directories and street directories. You can either look up the name of your man or look up the address and find out who was living there at the time of the directory. In this way you can also pick up the names of likely neighbours who might still be around for the censuses. Then a search for the neighbours should get the address you want on the census. The address directories are in alphabetic order of street names. Regards, Irene

    1. [ENG-MAN] 1901 Census & workhouse records
    2. Hi everyone Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Mike for sending the maps of Radcliffe - thank you Mike :O) I am digressing a little bit as my Uncle has asked me to help him locate his Grandfather. According to his army records he fought in the Boar war and was in a battle there in 1900. We can't locate him on the 1901 census so I am presuming he would still be in South Africa. Would that be a good presumption? He was born in Sept 1871 and I think I have found him in the Union Workhouse with his 2 sisters in 1881. If workhouse records still survive what information do they show please? Thank you for any help, best wishes Vanda __________________________________________________________ Free games for all the family - http://www.tiscali.co.uk/play __________________________________________________________
