Patricia Any chance it might be Bridge Street, which crosses Deansgate? Google Maps will show you both. I have a certificate of an infant who died at 4 Fredge Street, Manchester..in 1847(That is what it looks like). Does anyone have a map that shows this location. I also looked at the 1851 census, but again not found or even the family name of Blessington either. Could anyone help me with this please. I understand that this area was in the census that was damaged by floods. Many thanks Patricia
Hello Patricia, any chance you can send me a copy of the certificate so I can try and read this street name. It might also give clues as to the area in Manchester. Hi List, Would any kind person have a left over credit for the 1911 census who could look up the above address for me. I have used up all my credits but just need this one lookup. This address is given for both bride and groom on my grandparents marriage cert. This would be very much appreciated, thank you. Regards, Jan.

She was born on 7 Nov 1859 in Southern St, Deansgate, Manchester. Parents were Charles and Hannah HEANEY (nee BROADHURST). Happy to post or scan it to anyone who can use it. Cheers Jenni

Hello all, Just to let you know that the search engine on the OPC website will search for all records added to the database up until 27th December - http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html Regards, Sally
I am new to this list but have subscribed to other Rootsweb lists (mainly Scottish) for various periods of time. Archibald Charles TAYLOR, the son of Archibald TAYLOR, a Glasgow grain weigher, and Agnes SWIFT, was born in Chorlton upon Medlock on 17 Apr 1894, his father having died five months previously in Glasgow at the early age of 34 and his mother having returned to be with her friends or family near Manchester. Agnes TOOLE (nee SWIFT and formerly TAYLOR) died in West Gorton on 4 Feb 1949. Doe anybody recognise this family and know what happened to Archibald junior, Francis or John? I have a fair bit of information about Archibald (senior)'s ancestry. Martyn
Sally, Thank you so very much. I had to go out today just after I first looked quickly at your posting. Found one of about four Eyre's I am looking for, a marriage. Hope to find out more check each out. Simply fantastic. I am home now and apart from talking with my mother in about half an hour, she is in care and suffers dementia (I read a Bible Reading and pray with her each night over the telephone) just as dad did all these years until his recent death, I can then spend all night going through your posting. I feel like I just received the best ever Chrissy present. So a big thank you again for this posting. Regards Debby (in Melbourne Australia)
Debby, Thank you for your lovely email. I shall be passing it on to the Co-ordinators of the Lancashire OPC project, who in turn will pass your thanks on to the transcribers. I only play a small part in the process of passing on information, but it's very good to know that it has such beneficial effects for list members. With all good wishes to you and your family, and I hope that 2011 will bring happiness and peace to the Rootsweb listers everywhere. My name is Debby Dolgner-De L'Eyre, I think this is the first time I have visited the Manchester mailing list but I am known on many others as I have been 'researching' for myself and many others since I went on line almost ten years ago. If anyone on the Manchester site would like me to do research for them in Australia, do not hesitate to ask. However, I can only access Ancestry.com from the State Library in Melbourne at present so this is why I am asking for a favour from some one on the Manchester mailing list. I have a Daniel Eyre (my great, great, great uncle, birth: 2 Feb 1817 Gt Gonerby Lincolnshire England Death: 1903 Richmond Melbourne Victoria Australia aged eighty) who married a Sarah Izzard and possibly had at least three children. Sarah and his children died and he came to Victoria Australia, married again and had more children, his nephew also Danniel Eyre (two 'n's' and my great-great grandfather) came to New South Wales Australia. I followed a thread on line that was very helpful with Daniel and Sarah, showing she died in 14 Apr 1852 in the home (15 Buckley Street Manchester) of her husband Daniel's brother David Eyre (my great-great-great grandfather). On this thread the folk discussing Daniel and Sarah could not find them in the 1851 Census. On the 1901 Census site for the 1951 Census I found a David Eyre aged thirty-four with his wife Sarah aged thirty-eight and two children, George aged six and Mary an infant residing in Chorlton Hulme Manchester. My Sarah was older than her husband Daniel and their eldest son was George Izzard Eyre and he was six in 1851. I am thinking that perhaps the transcriber thought the name was David rather than Daniel, so I was wondering if someone on this mailing list could send me a copy of the original 1851 census transcript. I am also interested in Daniel's occupation at the time as a Daniel Eyre of a very close age and from this general area worked for the Post Office, was convicted of postal theft in Dec 1851, sentenced to ten years transportation, ended up two years later in Milford Prison and/or in Gibraltar where he was released early, 2 Jun 1956. Our Daniel came to Australia in Dec 1956. By 1956 Daniel's wife Sarah, infant daughter Mary (if I have the correct couple) and son George had died. Another son Robert Izzard Eyre had died in 1849 aged two. If Daniel was incarcerated, it would explain why Sarah was staying with his brother and her brother-in-law David Eyre. The family of Daniel in Australia believe he came to Australia to get over the loss of Sarah and his children and make a new start, and while this maybe part of the truth, if he is the Daniel who was convicted of theft etc. this may be another reason why he came to Australia. If these Daniel's are one and the same I do not think his immediate family (descendants as of yet know about his being convicted of theft). It is not something that one would really want family to know about I guess. And it probably would have been easier to make a new start here rather than in England if he was an ex-convict. An ancestor of my father's side was transported to Australia and he made a new start after serving his time. The Eyre's are on my mother's side. I was adopted out and later took my birth mother's name Eyre by Deed-Pole. My birth father never wanted me so I did not take his name, and it was his ancestor that made good after being transported here. I was a private adoption and always knew my birth family because my birth mother was a sister-in-law to my adoptive parents but I was not related to them by blood. I came from another relationship after my mother's marriage broke down. My life story is almost as confusing as my ancestry as their are many 'skeletons in the closet' on all lines. Anyway, if some one could assist me I am happy to return the favour this end of the tracks and one day I hope to be able to have access to Ancestry.com from my home computer along with a few other paid sites, but for now, I must rely on assistance from other listers or spend a day at the State Library every so often. Thank you anyway and Happy New Year. Speaking of incarceration, I am off today to Sale which is quite a drive from Melbourne. I am taking a little four year boy to see his father in prison so the father can give his son a Christmas present. Regards Debby Dolgner-De L'Eyre (Melbourne Australia)
