    2. sally roberts
    3. Morning all, Here are the latest databases that I found had been added when I visited the site today: http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexw.html 22 March 2011 Marriages 1846 to 1847 and 1848 to 1850 from the Church of St Mary the Virgin in the Parish of Blackburn Baptisms 1874 to 1886 from the Church of St John the Evangelist, Blackpool Marriages 1813 to 1837 from the Parish of Chipping Marriages 1813 to 1830 from the Parish of Church Kirk Banns 1843 to 1905 from the Parish of Coppull Marriages 1852 to 1914 from Church St Wesleyan Methodist, in the Parish of Farnworth with Kearsley Burials 1928 to 1936 from the Church of St Michael, Great Lever Burials 1813 to 1855 and 1872 to 1875 from the Parish of Halton (A personal thank you from me to the Transcriber for Chipping - I may well be able to take a couple of steps back through the generations in that village!) Also, the search engine was updated to incorporate all records loaded onto the site, prior to March 13th. Happy Hunting! Regards, Sally

    1. [ENG-MAN] HOLT Association of America - links to Lancashire
    2. Lynne
    3. Forwarded from the MLFHS mailing list with the author's kind permission. -------- Original Message -------- I have seen several queries about Holts from Lancashire. The following was published in this newsletter this month: "NEW LINE ESTABLISHED: Richard Holt of Herndon VA, who is already a member of the Association, has recently verified his descent from Oliver Holt, born 1797, who came to America in 1843, and settled outside Philadelphia with his family. The 1841 census of Lancashire County, Rochdale Parish, Butterworth Township in England, includes Oliver and his family. Mr. Holt has noted that many of the neighbors in that census are to be found in Springfield, Pennsylvania in that 1850 census. This village in England is very close to Oldham from whence came the descendants of Thomas Holt who, in 1825 came to Mercer Co. PA from Oldham. That Thomas went to Oregon in 1844. Richard would enjoy hearing from any persons interested in these lines." The Holt Association of America has a website where you could find more information including the contact information for Richard. www.holtassociationofamerica.org Just thought this might be of interest to some of the list members. 2. sally roberts
    3. 27th March is census day, and Ancestry are doing the following to celebrate it for those who don't subscribe to the service... "Get ready! To mark Census Day 2011, we’re letting you access all our UK census record indexes, from England, Wales and Scotland, completely FREE, for 24 hours! 27th March will be a historic day, as we all come together to complete the 2011 National Census. While you’re filling in details of your age, birthplace and relationships, you can use our FREE indexes to look back at your ancestors who did exactly the same thing every ten years, right back to 1841... " (The 1911 census is available in summary book form only, but may still provide something useful.) Regards, Sally
