grandfather Common or Comyn Shiel left Ireland soon after my father, Michael Shiel, was born near Swinford Co.Mayo 1899. My grandmother died in 1900. According to recently found Irish cousins he went to" England' and remarried. Lancashire seems a logical starting point. Are there descendants of Comyn? Male given names are Michael, Patrick and James. Female include Margaret, Anne, Catherine, Mary. Other than those who may be in England, the rest of us are in the US and Ireland. Any leads would be appreciated and to reciprocate I could share some 3000 entries from Swinford (Meelick/Kilconduff) parish, principally Shiel and Gallagher (my gm's name) and related families.
