Hi all I am looking to find my grandfather on my maternal side. I know he is dead and that he died after my mother was born in 1940. These are the facts. The legends that have sprung up around him are very misleading. My mother and her brother were illegitimate, the result of a liason between Elsie Barrett and Robert(Rupert)Large, I have conflicting details about where he was born, I was always led to belive he was born in Oban in Scotland, but have recently been told he was the son of a family from Liverpool. This family may or may not have been schoolteachers I was always led to believe he drowned at sea but have been told he died of an asthma attack. There are so many conflicting stories. So if any body out there has a Robert/Rupert Large that disappeared without trace pleases contact me Katt
