Would like to find information on my gg uncle who left England for (probably) South Africa or Rhodesia about 1880. Robert William SURRY was born in Wrentham, SFK in 1841. The SURRY family had lived in the Hastings-Bexhill-Icklesham area from about 1844 to at least 1903. The family had a photo of Robert - taken about age 45, with two native boys. My grandfather, who emigrated to Western Canada about 1909, had a book (now long lost but which he loved to display) in which the name of his uncle Robert William SURRY was mentioned (as having done something of some significance). Robert W. SURRY was supposed to have been a bit of a "black sheep" in the family. Help??
