Ada's mother was Caroline Fletcher, her sisters incase one of them signed the wedding certificate as a witness were Sarah (Brown) Davis, Amy (Larking) Davis, Julia (Hollands) Davis. She had a brother Amos Davis in England as well. Sisters were married at this time so have included married names in brackets. Judy in Canada I am searching for information on SAMUEL CHARLES JOHN GILL born September 02, 1858 in Rochester, Kent, England and his brother DAVID JAMES GILL born May 15, 1860. As you can see on the chart below their father SAMUEL GILL, SR. died July 24, 1861 in Medway Union Workhouse, (Rotham) Chatham, Kent, England. Their mother CAROLINE FLETCHER then remarried ALFRD DAVIS, on October 01, 1865 in Christ Church, Parish of Christ Chrurch Dios, Kent. Below are listed children of that union beginning in 1866 and ending in 1880. Caroline died in 1886 and that year their son Alfred John Davis (my grandfather) left for Vancouver, Canada where I live. My grandfather told my father he left due to the bad way he treated his half brothers Samuel and David Gill. I have not checked the 1871 Census for Samuel and David Gill to see if they lived with the Davis family. Samuel Gill would have been 11 years old and David Gill would have been 9 years old then. I have checked the 1881 Census and the 1891 Census and the boys are not listed. It is possible that would be because they were on their own as they would have been old enough. Hello listers, My first post with my interests: MALES- Pirton>Hitchin, Herts, (Underwood died 1878) & Elizabeth MALES nee CLARKE (widowed) of Pirton, found in Hitchin Union Workhouse with children William, Augustus, Charles and Keziah (Catherine) MALES in 1881. Elizabeth may have re-married after this time, as there is a younger sister...sorry, no name. MILLER- Keziah married John MILLER of Forest Gate, at West Ham registry office, Essex in 1906, had daughter Doris (Hetty) and sons James and John MILLER. The boys came to NZ in 1924 and 1927. Their father died 1914 HMS Cressy (RMLI). CLARK(E)- Elizabeth was born 1841 Alconbury Weston, Hunts. WATSON- Doris married Len WATSON of Walthamtow, Essex. They later moved to Brighton?...but possibly in Lancashire after 1960... CONNOR- John MILLER's mother was Ann(e) nee CONNOR, born Stratford, Ess. DOEG/DOIG- Len's sister Ada Emily nee WATSON married an Edward DOEG, possibly lived Lancashire. A long list yes, but if it rings any bells, I would be pleased to hear from you.
