    3. Hello Judy, I don't know if this helps at all, but I looked up your Alfred and Caroline on the 1881 Census, and found the following entry: Dwelling: 3 Robertson Mews Census Place: Lee, Kent, England Source: FHL Film 1341170 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 0731 Folio 113 Page 35 Marr Age Sex Birthplace Alfred DAVIS M 42 M Strood, Kent, England Rel: Head Occ: Labr Caroline DAVIS M 40 F Rochester, Kent, England Rel: Wife Sarah DAVIS 15 F Lee, Kent, England Rel: Daur Occ: At Home Alfred DAVIS 13 M Lee, Kent, England Rel: Son Occ: Scholar Agnes DAVIS 8 F Lee, Kent, England Rel: Daur Occ: Scholar Amos DAVIS 6 M Lee, Kent, England Rel: Son Occ: Scholar Ada DAVIS 4 F Lee, Kent, England Rel: Daur Occ: Scholar Julia DAVIS 10 m F Lee, Kent, England Rel: Daur Just out of interest, I wonder which town you mean they were married in? The town of Christchurch is in Hampshire, and as far as I know there is not a town or village anywhere in England called "Dios",; perhaps Dios is short for Diocese. You might like to know that there is a Rootsweb mailing list specifically for the county of Kent. The details are as follows: KENT-ENG. A mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in the county of Kent, England. To subscribe send "subscribe" to kent-eng-l-request@rootsweb.com (list mode) or kent-eng-d-request@rootsweb.com (digest mode). I hope this is of some help to you. 3. Hello from Mission,B.C.,Canada, My lost connection is my grandfather on my mother's side.My grandfather's name was Harry George WOOD,born about 1902 in Bradford,Yorkshire.Harry was a real "lad",and when he passed away in 1952 at the age of 50,it was discovered he was also a bigomist 4X over. He married my gran in Farnham,Surrey in 1924 while he was in the army.He left for good when my mom was only 5,hence not much information.I know he came from a fairly large family,I know a few of the names. There was Tom,Alfred,Harvey,a sister Ida,and an Aunt Minney.I also know of 2 nephews,Albert and Ron who I think lived at some point in Laisterdyke.Harry had numerous children with his other wives, one,a boy, would be in his 60's now and when Harry died he left behind a 3 week old baby.He died in Eltham,London, but we think spent considerable time in Hampshire.Of course what I'm hoping is one of Harry's other children will see this or someone will recognize the story. My mom is now 74 and she would really like to make contact with some of her half brothers or sisters. What I would like is to be able to find this other half of my family.I have purchased 4 birth certificates for Harry but still nothing I can confirm.I'd love to hear from anyone researching the WOOD family.Harry can't hide forever. Kindest regards, Sally _______________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.ca address at http://mail.yahoo.ca

    1. [UK Genealogy] Death Notices
    2. Hi all, I feel foolish but have some questions that I want to ask about death notices in England. I have a great grandfather who passed away in the Chelsea Workhouse Infirmary in 1899. Were death notices or obituaries published at that time? If so would they list parents names ands surviving family? The last question is if notices were published at this time does anyone have an idea of where I would obtain this information? Leslie Hanson Freeman

    3. Hello, Sorry to show my ignorance, but I have never heard of Mountain Daylight Time. Perhaps we all (and I definitely include myself) need a gentle reminder now and then that messages on these lists are read world-wide, so we need to be careful not to use expressions which will not be understood elsewhere, or if we do, to explain them in a way that makes them understandable to people all around the globe.
