I use both - I find the transcriptions are slightly better on FMP, but I much prefer the Ancestry search engine. It really depends where your research interests are, and what records you need to consult. If just census and GRO indexes, then either is fine... if you want Liverpool parish records for example then it has to be Ancestry. If I has to choose one at the moment would be Ancestry.
