    3. Hi Merv, You can apply for Bryan Rossiter's death certificate with the reference numbers you have. This will give you the place of death, cause, and who witnessed the event etc. It won't give you any parental details, however, and you'll need to concentrate on Lancashire for that, as he states he was born in Liverpool in the 1851 census. Sadly, with regards to Bellingham, Northumberland is a county in its own right and doesn't have the same fantastic free resources that Lancashire benefits from. This page is from the invaluable Genuki website, which will explain where certain records are held: http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Bellingham/ And the familysearch.org website holds some records that are browsable by image: https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/show#uri=http://www.familysearch.org/searchapi/search/collection/1918635 Findmypast holds some records for Bellingham, but you will have to purchase credits to view any information: http://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/all-records But back onto things in Lancashire, Gore's Directory for 1821 in Liverpool(via Ancestry.com) show the following details: 2 Westmoreland Place Bryan Rossiter - Stationer Richard Rossiter - Gentleman Richard Rossiter jr - Clerk in HM Customs That would link in with a Richard Rossiter shown as a witness to the wedding in Liverpool 5 years later. It MIGHT point to Richard being the father, but you should be aware that it may also be a brother, or even uncle. The best free resource for Lancashire parish records is the Online Parish Clerk website: http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/ It is worth keeping an eye out for the updates that are sent round the mailing lists, which will tell you of the databases that are added for the county. The current database is substantial, but not yet complete. Hope something in there helps!
