Otherwise, we'd be able to discuss all sorts of peripheral things, including the buses used to transport us to the local family history centre and the cost of wear and tear on our shoe leather. <g> Even though the computer is being used for family history, discussion of specific computer problems is not on topic for Liverpool, LancsGen, or most family history lists. The Computers list, however, was created just for "discussion of the use of, and problems with, computers and computer peripherals in genealogy research, which discussion would be inappropriate on a genealogy list." If the web site Bill kindly suggested doesn't provide the assistance you need, try the Computers list. There are many very knowledgeable, helpful subscribers on the list. If anyone is unsure whether a topic is on or off topic for a list, don't hesitate to ask the list's administrator in advance. The admin of any list can be reached by emailing [email protected], substituting the full list name for "LISTNAME". I think most list admins are fairly lenient about allowing one-time off-topic posts if asked in advance. Best wishes, Lynne list ogre
