I have a couple who settled in Liverpool having married in London in 1855. They must have arrived from Germany a few years earlier. The marriage record shows that both were born in about 1831, one in Hanover and the other in Oldenburg. I have father's names and trades from the marriage certificate. Can anyone please point me in the direction of information as to how to find ancestry in Germany? I have subscribed to the Rootsweb list for Germany but later found that there had been no activity on it for a number of years.
