Hi David, I don't have full membership of Find My Past, but I know that it will not give you as much information as it is possible to get if you approach the Southampton Archives, who can search to see if they hold any record cards for William, and send you copies of his Register Cards. A search on Find my Past throws up ......... First name(s) :William Last name :Mcwilliam Year of birth :1875 +/- 2 years Discharge Number: R32000 ..and that's without paying any subscription, and I suspect that Southampton will therefore have Seamen's Registry cards for this person.
