David, Have you looked for his father on 1911 Census, you would have his name from your fathers marriage cert. If you don't have access to census, let me know and I will see what I can find. If his father was named William Thomas McWilliams, I have found his marriage to Nellie Winifred Allan West Derby Sep Q 1909. Also a birth for Allen William McWilliams Dec Q 1909 West Derby, both these were found on FreeBMD. Best regards.
