    3. The nursery rhyme, Ring a Ring of Rosies, is about the plague and not scarlet fever. A very interesting book is the Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes which gives the origin and meaning of the rhymes. 1. [ENG-LIV] "Needles in a haystack" - my search for Liverpool family
    2. Janice Edwards
    3. I am researching a HUGHES family from Liverpool. Thomas Davis Hughes, estimated birth about 1858 and death in the early 1900's. Thomas married an Elizabeth Taylor. Her estimated birth is about 1865 and death in the early 1900's. The son of the couple I am focused on at present is William J. Hughes, born 1887 in Liverpool. He worked for a shipping lines so travelled often between the UK and New York City. Picking through some old family notes William J. had jotted down, I found a brief note about the heritage - very brief, it notes, "Grandmother Garwood" and nothing more about her. She might be the mother of his father Thomas, or she might be the mother of his mother Elizabeth - only guessing. A few other notes keep stating only "Anfield Cemetery" and "240 Prior Road." I've now done a search for "Anfield Cemetery" and see that is the name of the road that it is located on and I see many beautiful photos posted of it. Is 240 the actual cemetery address or perhaps a house where someone lived? A few other notes refer to "Kirkdale"; one being "22 Chancel St" which is repeated several times in the notes and another is "Marine Cres.". Insight from anyone in Liverpoool will be appreciated. Thank you. Janice New England in America

    1. [ENG-LIV] The surname of "Trevor"
    2. Janice Edwards
    3. Can someone in Liverpool on this list give me a pronunciation of the above surname? Would it appear reasonable that when going through Customs it might have been transposed into "Taylor" from its pronunciation by a person of Welsh heritage and a US customs agent writing what they thought they heard? Thanks. Janice
