    1. [ENG-LIV] Annie Jane - Liverpool to Montreal 1853
    2. This might be of interest to anyone interested in the maritime history of Liverpool The Annie Jane was a ship carrying emigrants from Liverpool to Canada in 1853 that sank off Vatersay. It was carrying about 450 and very few survived. Most of the bodies were washed up on Vatersay and buried in the sand dunes. There is a memorial to them on the top of the dunes as well as two Chinese seamen buried there in WWI when similarly washed up on the beach. It has been reported that the dunes are being eroded and there are concerns that the remains might start to be exposed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vatersay#Wrecks http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/102881/textcontribution/annie+jane+bagh +siar+vatersay+atlantic/ http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/170827/contribution/vatersay+annie+jane +monument/ Martin Briscoe Fort William martin@mbriscoe.me.uk
