Bill, Do you know how much time they spent in the Liverpool area? Were they just there for one census? Took me a bit of time but found your 1881 census-the family is 50 Howe St, Everton, West Derby, Lancashire England- their last name in this census is ONeil (one l). Annie was born in Ireland (Dundalk) about 1854 (age 27). Henry is the oldest, born in 1876 in the US (MA), then Annie age 3 born in US in NY, then Kate and Joseph age 9 months, born in Liverpool, Lancashire in 1880 about July. Church of St James Bootle is Catholic I know you have the above Bill but if someone else is looking this detail might help. I have looked for birth records in various other sites today but struck out. Owen and Annie (nee Farrell) were married in Massachusetts (USA) where Henry was born. Thank you, Christine, for the information about the Crosby Library. I will reach out to them. Thank you, Joan, for your response. Owen (age 1) is living at 29 Oak Street in Birkenhead on the 1851 census. In 1861, the family is at 5 Pine Grove in Bootle cum Linacre. In 1871, Owen (age 20) is living with his sister Alice (O’Neil) Howard and her family at 11 Linacre in Bootle/Derby. Owen came to the U.S. in the early 1870s. After marrying Annie and having their first child in Fall River, Massachusetts, it appears that they were in New York for the birth of daughter Annie. Annie and 4 children are in Liverpool for the 1881 census (I don’t know where Owen was). I found Owen in an 1890 Fall River directory and he became a naturalized U.S. citizen there in 1902. I do not know where he or his family lived in other years until Catherine and Joseph get married in New York City in 1905 and 1909, respectively. In 1871, Annie Farrell (age 16) was living with her family at 28 Charters Street (?) in the Howard Street sub-registration district of the Liverpool registrations district.
