    1. [ENG-LIV] MLFHS Bolton & District FHS May 2014 Meeting and AGM
    2. Lynne
    3. The next meeting is on Wednesday May 7th at 7.30pm. First there will be a formal Bolton Annual General Meeting (anticipated about 10-15 minutes), for which we are still inviting nominations from subscribed members of the Manchester and Lancashire FHS for candidates for the posts of all officers and also committee members. Forms were issued at the last meeting and completed forms should have been returned to Secretary Mrs Barbara Owen, 47, Laburnum Road, Bradshaw, Bolton BL2 3BX, to be received in time for the meeting. If for any reason anyone was unable to do this, contact Jane Milne at (sj_milne@hotmail.com) for a copy of the form which can then be printed, completed as per instructions, and scanned and returned to Jane or any committee member. This is your chance for a shake up or provide suggestions, so please support us with this. We aim to help everyone with Bolton interests, whether you just live in the area and want to meet like-minded people, or actually want help with local research. The official business will be followed by a talk by Dr Sandra Hayton about "Victorian Cellar Dwellers". She will tell us how industrialisation forced the "Rural Poor" agricultural workers and skilled artisans away from their traditional country life to search for employment in the developing cities. They created the new phenomenon of the "Urban Poor", and Dr Hayton has some some contemporary stories to describe their new living conditions. All are welcome to attend the meeting which is as usual at Bolton Cricket Club, Bishops Road, Farnworth BL3 2JB starting at 7.30pm. A Help Desk for private researchers will be available afterwards, and all enquiries to Barbara Owen on 01204 30 9515.
