    3. The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 28, 2014 Florence Clements(December 22, 1937 - April 26, 2014) Clements (Allen), Florence – of Dartmouth. Florence Clements passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 26, 2014. Born in Liverpool, England on December 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Loughran) Allen. Florence immigrated to Canada in 1959 to marry and start her new life. Her early life in Canada revolved around raising her two boys and keeping up with their many antics and adventures. She was a talented painter when she was able to carve out time from her family to pursue her hobby. She had a great love for animals and there was always a dog or two at home following her every move. She was happiest taking the dogs for walks and feeding the neighbourhood wildlife. Having grown up in England during the war years she was a "frugal" shopper. Florence always took pleasure in finding a bargain. She delighted family and friends with designer labels from thrifts stores and likened such occasions to winning the lottery. She loved to garden and was always nurturing back to life wilted plants that most people would throw out. Her home reflected her outlook on life; full of plants, animals and love for her family, friends and neighbours. There was always a pot of tea on the stove to share with visitors. She was very close to her two grandchildren and took her role as Nanny to heart. With much love she helped rear her grandkids and could often be found preparing food groups normally banned from their home for their lunches or snacks. Her grandsons regularly asked their mom for "real French fries" like Nanny makes. Florence was predeceased by her husband Roy Wilson Clements and stepfather Richard Bonson. She will be forever missed by sons; Brett (Dana Martinello), Dartmouth; Gary, Ottawa; brothers Robert, Crewe, England; Richard, Mansfield, England; sister-in-law Christine Sandford, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; numerous cousins in England including Jean , Barbara, John and Elsie; plus many nephews and nieces in England and United States; and by her beloved grandchildren Robert and Jamie and her border collie Ellie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29 from 7-9 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will be held at the Port Wallis United Church, 263 Waverly Road, Dartmouth on Wednesday, April 30 at 2 pm.
