    1. [ENG-LIV] James Kirk Merchant in Birkenhead/Liverpool

    3. G'day List I wonder if anyone can assist with thise man please? James Kirk was born in Saint Andrews Scotland in 1794, migrated to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada by 1816 where he established himself as a merchant, ship owner and ship broker of some note. In December 1849 he returns to Saint John from Liverpool, and within approximately 3 years he was living in Clifton Park, Birkenhead, where his family joined him in 1851, and where his wife Charlotte died on 15th January 1857. It may be a co-incidence, but John Starr De Wolf, with whom Kirk had business dealings while in Saint John, also lived in Clifton Park! In 1870 he was back in Saint John according to his will, where he states he was "late of London". He died in Saint John on the 15th of May 1873 and is buried in Fernhill Cemetery. I would like to know all there is to find about this man while in England. He is proving to be somewhat elusive. Any ideas, leads etc would be appreciated. Cheers....Bob
