    3. In an old Kelly's directory for the street in which I grew up the early 1900s listed such professions as acrobats and others associated with the music halls. If you think about it, an "artiste" could start at one end of the country and over a period of years slowly work his way around a whole slew of music halls using the same act night after night. By the time he got back to square one everyone there had forgotten his act. Not like today with one show on TV and half the world has seen it!
