    3. Hi there, I have an ancestor who died in Demerara, British Guyana. Are there any records of who signed up to go there in Liverpool. His name was Alexander Campbell MacDonald and he was only 19 when he died. I have no idea whether he was enlisted or just went as an immigrant. The Liverpool Mercury records on August 9th, 1856 that "July 10th, in his 19th year, at Demerara, Alexander Campbell MacDonald, 4th son of Hugh MacDonald of Boisdale" died. The index entry is interesting in itself and refers to the regiments stationed in the area at the time. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/ displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATID=2880338&CATLN=6&Highlight=% 2CMCDONALD%2CDEMERARA&accessmethod=0 If the link doesnt work search for McDonald AND Demerara in the cataglogue (not your McDonald!)
