    3. Re Mercury Road Club - Long shot, but were you a member at the same time as my brother Don Stewart (born 1934) - he belonged to the Pathfinders and Mercury. 3. hi john, me too 1948/1953 used to be in the Mercury, had a Jim Soens Bike, they used to be in Tuebrook on the corner of July or August Road, I cant remember which. I used to go through the Mersey Tunnel didnt cost anything on a bike and met up with other riders on the other side, first stop was the cyclist cafe at two mills, not far from Queensferry, the up the cat and fiddle i think it was and down through the Clwyd Valley down in Ruthin, then home via Llangothen across the moors, and im still ridding today, age 75, doing 15 miles a day, much slower of course, but still trying to keep fit. A long time ago, memories, memories. TED LUNT, now of Cheshire, moved from Liverpool when i got married in 1958. >I have been away from Liverpool since 1956 ,but I still have fond memories >of good times that we enjoyed ,do the clubs still exist?as they did in >those far of days ,The Ferrys on a sunday and Saturday would be often >packed by us cyclists ready to wheel our way to North Wales and Cheshire >also the Peak district .I was a member of the Liverpool Racing Club Star >Sports and the Mecury , > One of many good memories was Hot Pot suppers for boozy prize giving > Anthonys Cafe at Oakfield Rd comes to mind .would love to hear from > anybody ,by the way I still own a pair of cord shorts made by Ossie Dover > the cyclist,s tailor .who was a familiar sight on the ferry with his > Trycycle often called a wheelbarrow . > John Maddocks in New Zealand > ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ > > Admin Message - List guidelines: > http://freespace.virgin.net/genealogical.collections/AdminMessage.htm > > The list admin can be contacted at > Eng-Liverpool-admin@rootsweb.com > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > ENG-LIVERPOOL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
