My Grandfather was JAMES CALDWELL JONES born 1845 in Tranmere, Cheshire. He married Margaret TODD in 1866 and Clarice Ethel VENABLES in 1908. From 1871 onwards he lived in Toxteth. I have him in all the censuses from 1851-1911, bar 1891. Now comes the problem! My mother often spoke of her half-siblings, Charles, Mabel, Rose and Daisy Jones. Charles, Mabel and Rose are with James and ?rd wife Clarice in 1911. But first wife, Margaret doesn’t die until 1906 and is buried in family plot in Toxteth cemetery. Who is the mother of Charles, Mabel, Rose and Daisy? Is James really their father? My mother said that they were sent to Richmond Lodge ... what sort of establishment was this?.
